Izamal, the City of Hills
Once the Mayan cultural center founded by the Itzaes, Izamal was an important ceremonial center with seven pyramids. While first settlements date back to the 3rd century AD, one of Izamal's main attraction remains the convent of San Antonio de Padua founded in 1549.
